Most would say they are getting ahead of themselves, but after the total domination of the Sox in these last 2 games, and now being 1 win away from the World Series, they might as well open the stadium to let people sit in their seats already. Question is, will the Trop fill up for the World Series? Will the fans come out and fill the stadium as they have failed to do for the ALDS and the ALCS to date? They have sold out all the games, but many can attribute that to ticket resellers buying all the tickets up and supposedly scrambling to get rid of tickets near game-time.
The additional 5,000 seats this team is opening up may be for Philly fans to populate as the travel time by plane or even a driving trip down to Tampa won't kill anybody. You can go to a game at Tampa and get a ticket for face value at the start of the game. You could've gotten it before the start of the ALDS, ALCS, and I believe it will be the same for the beginning of the World Series. As much as MLB may not like Tampa for ratings, believe that ticket resellers don't like Tampa because there isn't any profit. That includes the Lightning and the Buccaneers as well.
I'm very interested in seeing what the final attendance figures are in Tampa come World Series time.

Ummmm you do realize all the playoff games have been sold out at Tropicana Field and the only reason additional seats are being opened is because games are selling out in minutes.
I hear that alot of the reasons the games are sold out is because ticket re-sellers have gobbled them up and it's not necessarily fans who have bought them.
i hope you dont think those seats are empty in the picture because no one showed up. those seats have a blocked view by the catwalks and the rays have kept them off limits for years. they didnt want to sell tickets to seats that suck.
Well I hope they are able to sell it to fans. I expect Philly fans to travel for some of the games. But, the stadium may be sold-out of all their tickets, but that doesn't mean the stadium is full. It didn't seem completely full these past two games. I heard resellers are giving away tickets for close to nothing in front of the trop.
"You can go to a game at Tampa and get a ticket for face value at the start of the game."
Not if you're going to a baseball game, seeing as how the Rays don't play in Tampa, for the 789 trillionth time...
The Rays are in St. Petersburg. I didn't even know that till I got down there for a game. No one attends those games but fans from other teams and transplants from other cities. The Rays fans are a bunch of bandwagons who make Dodgers fans look like diehards. Give me a effin break. Congrats on your series win. If you can't get the title, no one cares.
Have you watched any of the playoff games played at the Trop? Each game sold out and filled with Rays fans. Tickets to Tropicana for the ALCS have been harder to get than tickets for the ALCS at Fenway.

Why would there be more Phillies fans than Red Sox fans at the Trop? If you have ever been to the Tampa Bay area, everyone that lives there is originally from New York or Boston. Doesn't make sense, and it won't happen. Do a little research before making yourself look stupid.
Don't worry Boston fans - as obnoxious as all these Rays fans are on all these message boards, they won't be next week. I can't wait. The NL will do what the Eastern Conference did in the NBA, and that's surprise everybody. I have family down in Tampa and yes it's true, most residents are from NY and Boston.
Do some research next time. Tickets for the ALCS in the TBT Party Deck--normally like five-dollar seats--were going for over 200 dollars on StubHub, and the place was packed with Rays fans. It was easier to get seats at Fenway.
Enough with the bashing of the Rays' fans. Studies show that fans do not come to the ballpark after a perennial loser starts to suddenly win until the following year.
Also, the Rays do not have 100 years of history like the Sox. That makes it a bit easier, huh?
And I am so sick of the Pinkhats. Where was Red Sox Nation before they won the 2004 World Series championship. The Red Sox franchise has more bandwagon fans than perhaps any other franchise in the history of sports.
And, yeah, the Rays play in St. Pete, not Tampa. I am legitimately dumber for reading your factually incaccurtate post.
Now everyone on the map is supposed to know the Rays play in St. Pete? It's the same situation as someone thinking the Jets play in NY, when they really play in New Jersey. I can already see you rays becoming worse than the Sox and Yanks if you win any titles. Learn some basbeball. You guys support high school football more than you do your own teams. I bet i've been to the trop more than you fake fans.
Hey guys, I apologize for getting some facts wrong, but I did read that many brokers gobbled up all the tickets. I don't know how Tampa fans are, but I know historically, Florida is not a devoted sports town.
Uhh, Florida isn't a sports town, it's a state. And the Rays are not Tampa.
Knock the Rays fans all you like, at least they stay until the 9th inning, unlike Pink Hat Nation and the corporate shills who attend Red Sox games.
