Yoonew MLB Playoffs Stock Recap

Last night, 2 road teams took victories, while one home team won it's first playoff game since 1993. Let's take a look at the scores and the changes on the exchange.

*This piece covers all stock prices from the beginning of the action to 10:00AM this morning*

The Philadelphia Phillies led off the day with a 3-1 win over the mistake ridden Milwaukee Brewers. Philadelphia leads the best of 5 series, 1-0.

Philadelphia Category A Team Fantasy Seat Stock:

At one hour before gametime, the Phillies were a $459.00 stock. This morning, they are a $632.31 stock which represents a nearly $200.00 increase on the exchange overnight.

Total Change: +37.00

As for their opponents...

Milwaukee Brewers Category A Team Fantasy Seat Stock:

The Brewers, who committed numerous miscues to basically hand the Phillies victory, started the day as a $136.00 stock and then plummeted to $87.46 during the game. But in the end, many traders appear to still believe in the Brewers and like their chances with C.C on the mound tonight as they rebounded to a $116.00 stock.

The big of the 2 upsets of the night occurred in Chicago, where the heavily favored Cubbies lost convincingly to the LA Dodgers 7-2 in a game which was sealed by a grand slam from James Loney and a solo shot from Man-Ram. LA leads the best of 5 series, 1-0.

Chicago Cubs Category A Team Fantasy Seat Stock:

The Chicago Cubs, who are the highest priced MLB team on our exchange, started the day at $3391.67 and went up 2-0 in the early part of the game to see an increase close to $4,000. But, then came the Dodgers late in the game with a grand slam that quieted Wrigley Field and also sent some traders running to their desktops as the Cubs went on to lose and drop to 2549.00 on the exchange.

Total Change: -24.00%

Los Angeles Dodgers Category A Team Fantasy Seat Stock:

The Dodgers look like they are having fun and have been a different team since the Manny arrival. They looked poised and at ease, while the Cubs looked tight in Game 1 and a bit uneasy about their "favorite" status entering these playoffs. The Dodgers entered the playoffs last night at a trading price of $291.00 and went as low as $267.00 when the Cubs took that 2-0 lead. But, when the James Loney grand slam hit and the rest of the game belonged to the Dodgers, trading rose and the Dodgers finished at a stock price of $599.60.

Total Change: +105.00%

The nightcap showcased the man above me, Jonathan Palpebon, screaming for the heavens after delivering a 1-2-3 ninth to beat the LAA in Game 1 of the ALDS. This is the 10th straight victory the Red Sox have over the Angels in the playoffs and doubt may be already creeping into the Angels heads as they have lost their last 2 playoff series' against the Sox as well. The Red Sox won the game 4-1 behind great pitching by Jon Lester and a egregious running mistake by the overly aggressive Vladimir Guerrero.

Boston Red Sox Category A Team Fantasy Seats:

The Sox entered this post-season with a multitude of injuries and plenty of prognosticators picking against them, but you can never doubt the heart of a 2-time champion. Terry Francona's club entered trading last night at $655.92. As the Angels took the lead early, they dipped to as low as $479.00. But the Red Sox showed their grit and came back to win the game off a Jason Bay homer and great defensive play. The Red Sox ended trading at $866.00.

Total Change: +32.00

Los Angeles Angels Category A Team Fantasy Seats:

The Angels were a team which wasn't heavily invested on within the last month of the season because traders appeared to be leery of the Red Sox match-up considering the recent history. Last night, investors fears were validated as the Sox stole one in the opener in Anaheim. The Angels entered trading yesterday at a price of $655.00 and went as high as $900.00 when they took a early lead. But, they collapsed with mental base-running miscues and lost to the Red Sox. Their current trading price is $499.86.
